Moldcoop Executive Board President Participates Online in the Launch of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025

Chisinau,November 26, 2024 — A defining moment for the global cooperative movement took place recently as India hosted the official launch of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC 2025) during the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Global Conference in New Delhi. The event was attended online by the President of the Moldcoop Executive Bureau.

India’s Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, officially inaugurated this special year, marking the first time in 130 years that India hosts the ICA Global Conference. The launch was a celebration of the transformative role cooperatives play in sustainable development, solidarity, and social inclusion worldwide.

Highlights of the ceremony included speeches by global leaders, the unveiling of a commemorative postage stamp for IYC 2025, and the opening of the ICA Cooperative Expo, showcasing cooperative innovation.

The President of the Moldcoop Executive Board reaffirmed Moldcoop’s commitment to support and promote cooperative values and their positive impact on local and regional communities in the Republic of Moldova.
