Conference dedicated to the 2025 International Year of Cooperatives a

Chișinău, June 20, 2025 — Following the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives by the United Nations, a scientific-practical conference entitled “Sustainable Development of Cooperatives and Well-being for All” was held on July 19-20, at the Trade Co-operative University of Moldova.
The event was organized by TCUM in collaboration with Moldcoop, bringing together key figures from the cooperative movement, academia, and national and international institutions. The conference aimed to highlight the cooperative model as a sustainable path for economic and social development, with people and communities at its core.
Guests of honor included:

🔹 Hagen Henry – International expert in cooperative law
🔹 Sergiu Harea – President, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova
🔹 Ion Tighineanu – President, Academy of Sciences of Moldova
The conference sessions focused on sharing best practices from Europe, exploring the global role of cooperatives, and strengthening their contribution to collective prosperity.
On June 20, as part of the extended program, an official field visit was organized in the Strășeni district. The President of the Moldcoop Executive Board, together with Mr. Vasile Grosu, President of the Urecoop Strășeni Executive Board, conducted a visit joined by international guests Ms. Agnes Mathis and Mr. Hagen Henry.
The delegation visited local cooperatives, commercial units, and other key cooperative infrastructures, gaining firsthand insights into the role of Moldovan cooperatives in fostering regional development and promoting economic equity.
